The present invention relates to a pouch type rechargeable battery having enhanced stability, in which a shape memory alloy is used so that gas generated from an inner part of the pouch type rechargeable battery due to an abnormal phenomenon can be discharged to the outside. The pouch type rechargeable battery according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention includes an electrode assembly having an electrode tap; a pouch type case for receiving the electrode assembly; a sealing part for sealing the electrode tap and the pouch type case; and an unsealing member placed at a position corresponding to the electrode tap of the sealing part, and deformed at a preset temperature to open a section of the sealing part.
