An illumination device (100) includes: a sheet-shaped, flexible illumination panel (30) including on its surface a light emitting face (33) being configured to emit light when supplied with electrical power; a main body (10) including a mounting face (15) whereon the illumination panel (30) is to be mounted; and an installation cover (20) to be installed on the main body (10) and including a pressing region (25) pressing the light emitting face (33) of the illumination panel (30) against the mounting face (15) of the main body (10). With the illumination device (100), it is possible to achieve desired light distribution characteristics of the sheet-shaped illumination panel (30).
