The present invention provides a method for purifying fucoxanthin. The method comprises the steps of: grinding microalgae phaeodactylum tricornutum or isochrysis aff. galbana powder by a ball mill and obtaining extract from the grinded powder by using ultrasonic waves; adding a mixed solvent consisting of petroleum ether, isopropyl alcohol and cyclohexane to the extract, filtering chlorophyll, and obtaining remaining solids; adding 70-75% ethanol to the solids to dissolve the solids, and absorbing and concentrating fucoxanthin by using absorbing resins; adding 95-100% ethanol to the absorbing resins with the fucoxanthin absorbed therein to elute the fucoxanthin; and adding water at 60-70°C to the eluted fucoxanthin, rapidly cooling the eluted fucoxanthin down to a temperature of 30-40°C, and leaving the cooled eluted fucoxanthin for 2 to 3 hours to obtain fucoxanthin crystals. |
