The present invention relates to a display device and a manufacturing method thereof, capable of preventing an agglomeration phenomenon of an alignment layer and constantly maintaining a cell gap. The display device according to one embodiment of the present invention includes: a substrate which includes a plurality of pixel regions; a thin film transistor which is formed on the substrate; a pixel electrode which is connected to the thin film transistor and is formed in the pixel regions; a barrier layer which is formed on the pixel electrode; a roof layer which is formed on the barrier layer to be separated from the barrier layer with a space; and a liquid crystal which fills the space.
