PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma confinement container with improved plasma confinement efficiency. SOLUTION: In a plasma confinement container 4, plural permanent magnets 12 for generating a cusp magnetic field having a pair of polarities in a direction away from a surface of a container outer wall are spaced from each other along the container outer wall. Also, at least some of the plural permanent magnets 12 are a permanent magnet set such that polarities of the adjacent permanent magnets on the plasma confinement container 4 side are identical. Magnetic bodies 15 are opposed to each other via the wall of the plasma confinement container 4 across a gap formed between some of the permanent magnets constituting the permanent magnet set and the permanent magnet set.
