发明名称 Improved process for the reduction of iron oxides
摘要
751,105. Reduction of iron oxides. HYDROCARBON RESEARCH, Inc. Jan. 14, 1954 [Jan. 14, 1953], No. 1162/54. Class 72. Iron oxide is reduced by passing high purity hydrogen through a bed of finely divided oxide to cause mobility of the bed which is maintained at a temperature of 700‹-1000‹F. and a pressure of 200-600 lbs./sq. in. gauge, the hydrogen initially having a composite average molecular weight not exceeding 7À5 and a water vapour content not exceeding 0À5 per cent by volume at 700‹F. and not exceeding 3À0 per cent by volume at 1000‹F. As shown, finely divided iron oxide passes from a container 1 into a reaction vessel 12 divided into interconnected compartments having an equivalent radius not exceeding 6 inches. Hydrogen is fed into the bottom 16 of the vessel, passes through a porous plate 14 into the iron oxide which may have a depth of 5 feet, and is discharged part to line 13 to preheat the incoming charge and part to a heat exchanger 23. The cooled hydrogen passes into a washer 24 to remove water vapour, a compressor 30, heat exchanger 23 and a heater 32. Some of the used gas may be bled off at 29 and new make-up gas added at 33, the ratio of old gas to new gas being at least 30 : 1. Iron particles are extracted from the vessel at 20.
