[Also in Group VIII] A separator comprises fibres from soft wood, a siliceous filler, a wetting agent and a binding agent. Jute, linen, glass and other fibres may be added. The filler may consist of kiesulguhr or bentonite or other siliceous material and the binder may consist of an emulsion or solution of a thermoplastic or thermosetting resin or of natural or synthetic rubber. The mixture may be made into ribbed sheets by extrusion or moulding or by being passed between rollers. |
