The present invention relates to a heat pump system for an automobile and, more specifically to a heat pump system of an automobile capable of selectively performing heating and cooling by converting a flowing direction of a refrigerant using a single refrigerant cycle. According to the present invention, the heat pump system for an automobile is capable of operating high efficiency and high performance heat pump system during heating and cooling, and is also capable of resolving a problem regarding a time limit of a driving time when heating, caused by the occurrence of icing of an outdoor heat exchanger. Moreover, a dehumidification function can be performed during heating and cooling, and a smooth low-temperature operation is also possible. In addition, heat energy generated by a combustion-type heater is absorbed by a low-temperature refrigerant, which is prior to entering a compressor, to obtain an increased flux and enhancement of heating performance.
