The purpose of the present invention is to provide a cutting insert which can reduce a cutting load and can be positioned accurately at a fastening unit of a cutting tool even when a cutting edge is damaged or deformed. The cutting insert comprises: a top surface; a bottom surface; a plurality of side surfaces which connect the top surface and the bottom surface; and a plurality of upper cutting edges placed between the plurality of side surfaces and the top surface. The cutting insert is fastened to the fastening unit of the cutting tool, by including: a first and a second upper cutting load reducing unit placed on a side where a first and a second upper cutting edge face each other among the plurality of upper cutting edges on the top surface in order to reduce the cutting load; and a one side position setting unit placed on a first side surface not in contact with the first and second upper cutting edges among the plurality of side surfaces in order to set the position of the cutting insert on the fastening unit.
