The prevent invention relates to an apparatus for driving a light emitting diode which is configured so that a current input to the light emitting diode tracks a sine wave. The present invention proposes an apparatus for driving a light emitting diode, which includes a switch unit for receiving rectified power to switch a light emitting diode unit having a plurality of light emitting diodes; a driving control unit for controlling a switching operation of the switch unit according to a voltage level of the rectified power; a current limiting unit for limiting a current flowing through the light emitting diode unit; and an adjustment unit for adjusting the current limitation of the current limiting unit according to the voltage level of the rectified power.
