A control panel assembly and a drum type washing machine including the same are provided to prevent the circuit board from being damaged by the water flowing in between the dial knob and the dial knob mounting hole. A drum type washing machine comprises a main body, and a control panel assembly provided on one side of the main body. The control panel assembly includes a control panel(15) which it is mounted on one side of the main body, and has a dial knob mounting hole(16); a dial knob(61) mounted on the dial knob mounting hole; a circuit board(70) which is provided on the back side of the control panel and in which an encoder(71) delivering signal according to the manipulation of the dial knob is mounted; and an encoder bracket(80) which is arranged between the control panel and circuit board prepared so that the dial knob is pivotally mounted. In the encoder bracket, a guide channel(82) which guides in order to prevent that the water entering the gap between the dial knob mounting hole and dial knob from flowing toward the circuit board is formed. On the back side of the control panel, a drain hole(18) discharging the water guided through the guide channel is formed in the location corresponding to the end of the guide channel. |
