A data back-up apparatus of a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to back up important data in an emergent restoration mode of the portable terminal. A data back-up apparatus of a portable terminal comprises the followings: a memory which comprises an EFS domain(13), including a BL domain(10), an SBL domain(11), an AMSS domain(12) and an NV domain(14), and a separate backup partition(20) for backing up NV data; and a controller(21) which controls backing up and restoring operations between a backup region and the NV domain. The backup region is positioned between the BL domain and SBL domain within the memory, but the location of the backup region is changeable when necessary. The controller is implemented by an MSM(Mobile station modem). |
