<p>The method involves sending pulses (106) of electromagnetic radiation by a transmitter (102) to a vehicle, and receiving reflected pulses (107) by directional channels (110) from a multi-channel sensor (108), which are attached to the vehicle. Group of neighboring directional channels are determined based on the reflected pulses, which are reflected by an object (200). A time-to-collision information (150) of the object is determined based on the reflected pulses received by the channels for judging whether a collision is occurred based on the time-to-collision information.
