The present invention relates to a device and method for providing traffic information by using radio traffic broadcast. The present invention provides a device and method for providing traffic information by using radio traffic broadcast, which extract and store a corresponding traffic broadcast in a file format as street names, landmarks, and place names on a destination path that a driver sets are voice-recognized from a radio traffic broadcast recorded in a streaming method and thus provide corresponding traffic information at any time at the request of the driver without an additional digital modulation module. For this, the present invention provides a traffic information providing device using radio traffic broadcast including: a traffic broadcast reception unit receiving traffic broadcast; a traffic broadcast storage unit storing a traffic broadcast that the traffic broadcast reception unit receives; a path setting unit setting a path from a current location to a destination according to a destination information input from a driver and generating names on the set path as a list; a control unit controlling a traffic information extraction unit to extract corresponding traffic information if the names on the list are included in the traffic broadcast stored in the traffic broadcast storage unit; the traffic information extraction unit extracting corresponding traffic information from the traffic broadcast stored in the traffic broadcast storage unit; and a traffic information storage unit storing the traffic information that the traffic information extraction unit extracts. |
