Disclosed are a method and a device for tracking the position of a target terminal using wireless ad hoc communications between a position measurement target terminal and terminals therearound and a mobile telecommunications system for the same. According to the present invention, when position confirmation is requested, a position tracking device requests location confirmation including information to grant ad hoc network configuration authority from a position measurement target terminal, selects at least one terminal to be referred for the position measurement of a target terminal by collecting position information, from the measurement position terminal, position information on the terminal, position information on peripheral terminals collected through an activated ad hoc network, and wireless information used during ad hoc communications, and then calculates the position of the measurement position target terminal on the basis of wireless signal intensity, arrival time, or arrival time difference between the position measurement terminal and at least one terminal and transmits the calculated position to a position confirmation request side. In response to this, on the receipt of the position confirmation request message including information to grant the ad hoc network configuration authority from the position tracking device, the measurement target terminal broadcasts a request to the peripheral terminals to activate the ad hoc communications and collects position information on peripheral terminals through the activated ad hoc network and wireless information used during the ad hoc communications to transmit the collected information and its own position information to the position tracking device. |
