The present invention relates to a fabric for an air bag and especially to a fabric for an air bag comprising high-strength polyethylene-based yarn having a tensile strength of 12 g/d and more and the elongation at break of 2-15%; to a method for manufacturing same; and to an air bag in a vehicle comprising the same. The fabric for an air bag of the present invention uses a polyethylene-based yarn which is light and has excellent mechanical properties so as to acquire excellent mechanical properties like toughness and tear strength while having a light weight, at the same time providing stiffness and folding properties, energy absorbing properties, and an air shielding effect so as to minimize an impact applied to a passenger to protect the passenger.
