A phase detection device and an operation method thereof according to an embodiment of the present invention includes an analog digital converter (ADC) converting an inputted RF transmission signal into a down-sampled digital transmission signal to check and vary the phase of an RF transmission signal transmitted from a radar by using a field programmable gate array (FPGA), thereby changing designs for the function of each component according to a developer′s selection; a direct down converter (DDC) extracting I data and Q data obtained by frequency-changing the digital transmission signal into a baseband component and an image component; a calculation unit calculating an I average value and a Q average value by integrating the I data and the Q data; an extraction unit extracting a phase value by calculating the I average value and the Q average value according to a set function; and a control unit calculating a phase difference value by comparing the phase value and the set reference phase value and varying the phase of the RF transmission signal according to the phase difference value. |
