The present invention relates to a watt-hour meter which operates an energy consumption indicator (or indicator) indicating whether electrical energy is currently being used or not according to a predetermined condition, and a controlling method thereof. The watt-hour meter according to the present invention includes: a voltage/current detector which detects the voltage and the current supplied to a load; a controller which digitally converts the detected voltage and current, calculates wattage based on the digitally converted voltage and current, and determines the activation of the load based on the calculated wattage to operate the indicator when the load is not in operation and is under the predetermined condition; and the indicator which is turned on/off by controlling the controller. |
