An apparatus and a method for detecting welded areas using a multiplex linear laser beam are provided to stabilize the tracking of the location of a welded area and detect the welded area of a steel sheet in which a signal level is low easily by increasing the correlation of the welded area between the detection signals of the steel sheet. An apparatus and a method for detecting welded areas using a multiplex linear laser beam comprises: unit detectors(100,200,300) irradiating a plurality of linear laser beams in a transferred steel sheet(1); a signal processor(400) which determining whether the welded area of the steel sheet is detected or not by receiving output signals outputted from the unit detector. The unit detector detects the laser beam reflected from the steel sheet. The unit detector comprises: a beam splitter dividing the laser beam into two laser beams at a right angle; and a perpendicular prism refracting one laser beam among the two laser beam at a right angle. |
