PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve heat radiation characteristics in a light emitting device which performs high output operation.SOLUTION: A light emitting device includes: a substrate 2; a light emitting element 1 disposed on the substrate 2; and a heat radiation layer 4 which is disposed on the substrate 2, covers the light emitting element 1, and at least partially connects with the substrate 2. The heat radiation layer 4 has an opening 4a which exposes an upper surface of the light emitting element 1. An end part of the opening 4a in the heat radiation layer 4 is connected with the upper surface of the light emitting element 1.
