PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a square battery having excellent safety in which internal short circuit is less likely to occur even if it is subjected to drop impact.SOLUTION: A square battery includes a battery outer can, a sealing plate sealing the opening of the battery outer can, and a flat electrode body arranged in the battery outer can. The battery outer can includes a side portion, a flat portion and a bottom portion. The side portion is thinner than the bottom portion, and a notch is provided in the electrode body from a position of the side portion facing the tip of a positive electrode plate, in the direction of the bottom portion, located at the outermost position to the boundary of the bottom portion and side portion of the battery outer can. |
