The present technology relates to a reception device and method, a program, and an information processing system which can securely provide path information capable of equalizing a burden of a usage fee for a connection service to an external network. A reception unit receives path information, which is transmitted over a broadcast network, for selecting a path of an internal network according to an amount of passing packets by a packet communication process in an external connection reception device among the plurality of reception devices, a control unit selects the path at the time of connection to the external network, based on the received path information, and a communication unit performs communication by being connected to the external network through an external connection reception device according to the amount of passing packets, along the selected path. The present technology can be applied to, for example, a television receiver which receiving digital television broadcast signals. |
