PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for recording and playback, achieving highly efficient playback for a user when playing back a recorded broadcast program.SOLUTION: The recording and playback apparatus includes: a recording device for recording broadcast data of a broadcast program; a caption data acquisition unit for acquiring caption data from the broadcast data; a chapter setting unit for setting a chapter division point for each time when a caption display is started in the broadcast program on the basis of the caption data; and a skip processing unit for moving from a chapter in the middle of playback to the top of the next chapter to play back on receipt of a skip operation during the playback of the broadcast program. |
