PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clear coating composition capable of providing a multilayer coating film free from an effect of a surface roughness of a base material (excellent in masking performance of surface conditions (uneven) of the base material), excellent in smoothness and sharpness when forming the multilayer coating film by coating an aqueous first pigment coating, an aqueous second pigment coating and a clear coating on a matter to be coated in order and hardening once, and to provide a method of forming the multilayer coating film using the clear coating composition.SOLUTION: There is provided a coating composition containing a hydroxyl group-containing acrylic resin (A), a melamine resin (B) and polyol having a specific number average molecular weight of 300 to 1500 (C). There is provided a method of forming a multilayer coating film using the coating composition as a clear coating material by coating an aqueous first pigment coating, an aqueous second pigment coating and a clear coating on a matter to be coated in order and heat hardening them once. |
