PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle air conditioner capable of sufficiently lessening a passenger's discomfort when an air conditioner is actuated at a time of starting a vehicle engine, and reducing time before unpleasant odor is emitted from the air conditioner.SOLUTION: An air conditioner controller ECU 2 of a vehicle air conditioner 1 determines whether an unpleasant odor (evaporator odor) is emitted from an evaporator when an air conditioning unit 3 is actuated at a time of engine start. If the evaporation odor is emitted, the air conditioner controller ECU 2 determines whether a vehicle scene is a single person scene in which only a driver is in a vehicle on the basis of detection signals of seating sensors 61 to 64 provided on respective seats and/or whether or not a single person mode switch 51 is operated. In a case of the single person scene, conditioned air accompanied by the evaporation odor is promptly discharged from air diffusers on the seats other than a driver's seat with maximum air flow. In a case of a non-single person scene, the air conditioner controller ECU 2 executes a mode for adjusting a blown air direction to avoid blowing the conditioned air directly to a passenger/passengers while permitting the conditioned air accompanied by the evaporation odor to be discharged from an air diffuser on the driver's seat. |
