PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an appropriate protection function against an overcurrent.SOLUTION: A semiconductor device includes an output transistor MN1 and a current detection section 2. The output transistor MN1 controls power supply from a power supply VCC to a load 12. The current detection section 2 detects a current flowing through the output transistor MN1. The current detection section 2 has a current detection characteristic where a current detection value as the detected current has substantially linear negative dependence on a drain-source voltage Von of the output transistor MN1.
