Disclosed is a method of controlling a display apparatus on which a window for executing an application is displayed. A controlling method according to the present invention includes the steps of: displaying a window in which an application is executed; entering into a display change control mode for changing a display of the window; setting a plurality of reference areas on a screen and displaying the reference areas; and when at least one is selected from the reference areas, controlling such that a position and/or a size of the window is changed and displayed corresponding to the selected reference area.
