PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust a detection plane of a read object, excitation light, and a focal plane of an objective to optimum positions over the entire region in a two-dimensional plane without making a detection optical system complex, large-sized, nor heavier.SOLUTION: An image information reader includes: a sample stage (4, 31) where a read object is placed; a scanning module which makes a two-dimensional scan in first and second scanning directions to detect light from the read object; a plurality of patterns which are arranged on the sample stage (4, 31) apart from one another; and a detection part which detects optimum positions of a scanning plane of the two-dimensional scan and a detection plane of the read object on the basis of the light detected when the scanning modules scans the patterns (32a). Therefore, a detection plane of the read object, irradiation light, and a focal plane of an objective are adjusted to optimum positions without making a detection optical system complex, large-sized, nor heavier, and image spots are reduced to form a high-definition read image. |
