PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a harmful influence of blur processing, in a photographic scene the background of which is desired to blur.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus comprises: detection means for detecting a subject from image data; blur processing means for executing blur processing on the image data on the basis of a result of detection by the detection means; and control means which controls whether execution of the blur processing is proper or not, on the basis of the distance difference between the subject distances from a subject area corresponding to the subject detected by the detection means within the image data and the background area other than the subject area and the size of the background area. |
