PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device and a drive method of the device capable of improving display quality.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a first substrate including a first pixel electrode disposed in a first color pixel, a second pixel electrode disposed in a second color pixel, and a first alignment layer covering the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode; a second substrate including a second alignment layer opposing to the first alignment layer; a liquid crystal layer held between the first alignment layer and the second alignment layer; and a drive unit which supplies a voltage to the first pixel electrode and to the second pixel electrode in accordance with a gradation to be displayed in the first color pixel and in the second color pixel while adding DC biases that are respectively and individually set. The drive unit supplies a first halftone voltage that is the sum of a voltage in accordance with a halftone and a first DC bias, to the first pixel electrode, and supplies a second halftone voltage that is the sum of a voltage in accordance with the halftone and a second DC bias different from the first DC bias, to the second pixel electrode. |
