PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a target core material that can be used without any long-term deterioration even in an outdoor area so as not to damage an object of the target core material for protecting an arrow at the time of shooting in a shooting competition such as an archery competition, and further to provide a target core material capable of solving a problem of keeping durability caused by concentration of arrows at a certain location in the target and realizing of setting a target and improving work at the time of cleanup that were difficult to do.SOLUTION: A target core material 1 for a shooting competition comprises a plurality of foamed pieces 21 made of foamed plastic constituted such that it can be divided to each other in a plane direction of a target surface 1a and at the same time each of its outer shape areas is made smaller than an outer shape area of the target surface 1a.
