PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upper body structure of a vehicle that in the initial stage of collision, receives a lateral collision load by torsional deformation and bending deformation of a roof rail without input load to a roof reinforcement, and then transmits a reduced load and a load on which bending moment is small to the roof reinforcement so that buckling of the roof reinforcement does not occur near the lateral portion in a vehicle width direction of the roof.SOLUTION: An upper body structure of a vehicle comprises: a roof panel 5 arranged between roof rails 4 and 4; a roof reinforcement 14 extending in a vehicle width direction below the roof panel 5; a center pillar 6; and a gusset 30 connected to an end portion in the vehicle width direction of the roof reinforcement 14. The roof reinforcement 14 and the gusset 30 are not jointed with a joint portion 20 of panels, and a separation portion 31 that separates the roof rails 4 from the gusset 30 is formed or a fragile portion that is fragile is formed in the vicinity of a connection portion between the roof rail 4 and the gusset 30. |
