METHOD OF EVALUATING CANDIDATE SUBSTANCE FOR IMPROVING INTESTINAL ENVIRONMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of evaluating a candidate substance for improving intestinal environment that can be performed simply and quickly and is highly accurate.SOLUTION: The method comprises at least the following steps A to E: a step A of applying a treatment that rises a redox potential in intestines to a non-human animal; a step B of administering a test substance to the non-human animal; a step C of measuring the redox potential of intestinal or extracorporeal feces of the non-human animal after the steps A and B; a step D of comparing the redox potential value measured in the step C with a reference value; and a step E of evaluating the test substance as a candidate substance for improving intestinal environment in the case where the comparison of the step D leads to the fact that the test substance suppresses the rise of the redox potential caused by the treatment of the step A.
