The present invention relates to an interface device between a mobile communication terminal and a navigation monitor and a method for controlling a navigation monitor display operation by using the mobile communication terminal including a step for detecting whether or not the mobile communication terminal is mounted; a step for activating a remote control mode in a case where the mobile communication terminal is detected to be mounted as a result of the detection; a step for generating a control signal for operating the mounted mobile communication terminal in an external display mode as a result of performing the activated remote control mode; a step for transmitting the generated control signal to the mounted mobile communication terminal; a step for converting screen information transmitted from the mobile communication terminal performing the external display mode according to the control signal to match with a display specification of the navigation monitor; a step for streaming the converted screen information to the navigation monitor; and a step for stopping the streaming operation when the mobile communication terminal is detected to be attached/detached to inactivate the remote control mode. The navigation monitor is coupled with a smart phone, and thus components such as a central processing unit for independent driving can be omitted. Also, every function available on the smart phone can be available through the navigation monitor.
