The present invention relates to an apparatus for driving a back light, capable of improving a power conversion efficiency by minimizing power loss. The apparatus for driving a back light includes a light source configured by a light emitting diode; a DC-DC converter to generate and supply a drive voltage to the light source according to switching of a switching element; a feedback circuit to generate a feedback voltage corresponding to a voltage level of the drive voltage to be supplied to the light source; a duty controller connected to the light source to control a lighting interval of a light emitting diode according to an LED duty signal corresponding to a back light dimming signal; and a switching controller to generate a pulse width modulation signal for controlling switching of the switching element according to the feedback signal, and to generate a switching control signal corresponding to the pulse width modulation signal according to the LED duty signal for selectively controlling the switching of the switching element. |
