An air conditioner for an automobile according to the present invention is capable of minimizing the amount of air leaking from an air-rich zone to an air-scarce zone among a left passage (10) and a right passage (20) through first and second insertion holes of a separation plate by arranging the first insertion hole having a comparatively small size on the air-rich passage among first and second passages which are partitioned by a mode door. Moreover, the present invention, in a dual-type automobile air conditioner applied with a center pivot door, is capable of minimizing an air-conditioned air from one of the left and right passages to the other side by a mode door insertion hole formed on a separation plate of an air conditioner case, to provide an air conditioner for an automobile having enhanced reliability of respectively independent air conditioning functions of the left and right passages.
