The present invention relates to a system and a method for checking a surrounding situation by using a phone terminal, capable of accurately checking a surrounding situation through a speaker phone by checking a surrounding situation of a specific place through an image of a monitoring camera and when a user makes a phone call by using a phone terminal installed at the specific place and receives a phone call through a pre-registered phone number by the phone terminal, by switching into the speaker phone and connecting a call path. A surrounding situation checking system using a phone terminal according to the present invention includes: a monitoring camera capturing a surrounding image of a specific place; a remote control terminal receiving a surrounding image captured by the monitoring camera in real time from a remote place to display the image on a display unit; and a phone terminal, when a call transmission and reception through a wired/wireless communication network are possible and a call is received from the outside, determining whether the phone number of the received call is identical to a pre-registered phone number and when if the phone number is identical to the pre-registered phone number, switching to a speaker phone to connect a first call path. The phone terminal transmits a recording start signal to the monitoring camera when the first call path is not disconnected to the speaker phone for a predetermined time after the first call path is connected to the speaker phone. |
