A payment method is provided by the embodiments of the present invention, comprising: a payment request containing user identity information and payment information is received by a payment gateway; the payment request is decrypted, and the user identity information and payment information are extracted; according to the user identity information, a payment tunnel corresponding to the user identity information is searched in a payment tunnel list; the payment request is sent to a payment client for authentification through the payment tunnel; the authenticated payment request sent by the payment client is received and transferred to a payment server; a payment result is obtained and returned to a initiator of the payment request. A payment gateway and a payment client are also provided by the embodiments of the present invention. The universality of security payment is enhanced by using the embodiments of the present invention. And security risks of payment information being intercepted, wiretapped and juggled are avoided.
