PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a fuser member that is more robust and less likely to degrade fuser performance.SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a fuser member includes obtaining a substrate layer 110 and coating a composition of an anhydride capped polyamic acid oligomer, a multi-amine and a solvent on the substrate layer 110 to form a polyimide gel intermediate layer 120 on the substrate layer 110. The solvent is extracted from the polyimide gel layer with an extraction solvent. The extraction solvent is removed to form the intermediate layer 120 of a polyimide aerogel layer having a porosity of from about 50 percent to about 95 percent. A fluoropolymer is coated on the intermediate layer 120 of the polyimide aerogel layer and cured or melted to form a release layer 130. |
