PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a confinement type runner reaction vessel system including a reaction vessel body, a front cover and a back cover.SOLUTION: A method of producing a catalyst or a supporting material by using a confinement type runner reaction vessel system includes a step of injecting a catalyst precursor or a supporting material precursor into individual confinement type runners of the reaction vessel body from inlet ends, a step of injecting an inert gas from the inlet ends and causing the inert gas to flow through the confinement type runners and flow out from outlet ends so as to dilute or remove excessive parts of the precursor and a step of causing the precursor to be deposited in the confinement type runners of the reaction vessel body to form a catalyst or a supporting material.
