PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric steering lock device capable of constantly checking the state of a lock member even during a vehicle traveling and diagnosing a failure safely in a case where abnormality occurs.SOLUTION: An electric steering lock device 1, having a lock member 5, a motor 13, a motor drive control part 20, a microcomputer 21 and a host ECU 19, further includes: first unlock position detection means 17; monitoring-power supply means 26 for supplying the first unlock position detection means 17 with power during a vehicle traveling; and first failure monitoring means 27 for monitoring a signal output from the first unlock position detection means 17 by the power supplied from the monitoring-power supply means 26. Further, in the case of the first failure monitoring means 27 detecting a not-unlock signal indicating an event of the lock member 5 shifting from an unlock position, the host ECU 19 shuts off a power supply route and outputs a failure diagnosis instruction signal to the microcomputer 21. |
