PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a columnar structure and a monitoring system of a riser pipe which can measure stress and displacement or the like at an optional part over an entire riser.SOLUTION: A columnar structure 1A and a monitoring system 10A of a riser pipe 11 comprise: the riser pipe 11; and an elevating device 12A which can freely elevate along the riser pipe 11. The elevating device 12A includes: an upper elevating part arranged so as to surround a periphery of the riser pipe 11; holding means which is arranged on the upper elevating part and temporarily holds the riser pipe 11; and moving means which moves and freely elevates the upper elevating part over an entire length of the riser pipe 11. The monitoring system includes one or more elevating devices 12A, a measurement control device 13 which calculates and records stress and displacement of the riser pipe 11 based on behavior of the riser pipe 11 measured by the elevating device 12A and controls movement of the elevating device 12A, and a cable 14 which connects the measurement control device 13 and the elevating device 12A.
