The invention relates to the chemical and pharmaceutical industry and to medicine. The inventive agent which is used for treating patients suffering from ethyl alcohol and/or narcotic dependence and psychosomatic and neurological complications of such patients, is produced in the form of polyprenols of formula (I), wherein n=8-20. The pharmaceutical composition for treating patients suffering from ethyl alcohol and/or narcotic dependence and psychosomatic and neurological complications of such patients, contains an effective quantity of polyprenols of formula (I), wherein n=8-20, and pharmaceutically acceptable carriers and/or solvents. Said composition is produced in the form of a solution, suspension, capsule or a tablet or in the liposomal form. The use of the polyprenols of formula (I), wherein n=8-20, in the form of an active ingredient of the composition for treating patients suffering from ethyl alcohol and/or narcotic dependence and psychosomatic and neurological complications of such patients, is disclosed. A method for treating patients suffering from ethyl alcohol and/or narcotic dependence and psychosomatic and neurological complications of such patients, consists in administering the polyprenols of formula (I) wherein n=8-20.
