<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertically aligned liquid crystal display device subjected to multiplex driving, which is improved in display uniformity.SOLUTION: A vertically aligned liquid crystal cell generates within a pixel a dark area fixed to a part of the inside of the pixel by application of an A waveform having a frame frequency of 30 Hz or less, which is an in-frame inversion drive waveform performing polarity inversion when one line is selected. A drive unit applies an A waveform having a frame frequency f according to duty ratio and a pretilt angleθp to the liquid crystal cell. When the duty ratio is 1/8 duty or less, the pretilt angleθp is 88.5° or more and less than 89.6°, the frame frequency f is 60 Hz or more, and when the pretilt angleθp is 89.6° or more and 89.9° or less, the frame frequency f is [120×(θp-89.6)+60] Hz or more. The A waveform is applied to the liquid crystal cell to prevent the generation of the dark area fixed to the part of the inside of the pixel.</p> |
