COATED PHOSPHOR PARTICLES AND MANUFACTURING PROCESS THEREFOR

Coated phosphor particles, the surfaces of which are at least partially coated with a hydrolyzate of a prepolymer formed by condensation of a polydimethylsiloxane having a silanol group at at least one terminal with an oligomer of an alkoxide of a metal and/or a semimetal. When excited with a ray having a wavelength of 350 to 430nm, the coated phosphor particles exhibit luminescence which has a high intensity and which rarely deteriorates over a long period.
