A front loading washing machine is provided to improve space utilization of a drum by making the outer width of the front surface of a balance smaller than the inner width and to prevent various conical vibrations by differently setting center of centrifugal force of liquid for each ring. A front loading washing machine comprises a tub(36) having a tub opening(37) where clothes are put in and taken out, a drum(42) having a drum opening(44) corresponding to the tub opening, and a balance(52). The drum is installed in the tub. The balance has a plurality of successive hollow-rings at the periphery of the front side of the drum. The depth from the front surface of the drum to the inner part of the drum is shorter toward the radially outer side of the drum. The front surface of the balance is inclined toward the drum opening. |
