PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide surface-treated calcium carbonate which, when blended into rubber, can remarkably improve vibration proof characteristics thereof, and to provide a rubber composition containing the same.SOLUTION: Provided is surface-treated calcium carbonate, wherein the surface of calcium carbonate having an average primary particle diameter of 0.01 to 10.0 μm is treated with maleic anhydride or with maleic acid and at least one kind of treatment agent selected from organic acids and quarternary ammonium salt compounds.
