578,053. Centrifugal blowers. DIBOVSKY, V. V. Feb. 28, 1944, No. 3666. [Class 110 (i)] The blades of a centrifugal blower with central inlet and peripheral outlet comprise an inner section d having curvature increasing towards the axis, the chord of the curve being inclined at between 65‹ and 80‹ to the radius to the inner edge, and an outer section e whose chord is inclined at between 100 and 115 degrees to the same radius : both sections are concave facing in the direction of rotation. The outer section is longer axially than the inner one to reduce eddying at the junction : in the form described the outer sections lie outside the circumference of the blade-supporting disc end of a ring which connects the unsupported edges of the blades. In the form described the casing is of eonstant width axially, but according to the provisional Specification the outer part may be wider to accommodate the outer blade sections, which may have a greater axial dimension than the inner part of the casing. The size of the inlet opening in the casing is approximately equal to that of the rotor, and greater than that of the outlet opening c. The volume swept by the blades is between 3 and 5 times the volume of the entry space within the inner edges of the blades. The outlet opening c may have a nozzle, and the casing may be rotatable to vary the direction of the outlet stream. |
