PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately perform object detection by reducing an impact of disturbance light and mutual interference by multi-bit data communication.SOLUTION: The object detector comprises: a transmission unit 4 for transmitting a multi-bit signal which includes predetermined information, to a detection area; a reception unit 5 for performing communication with the transmission unit 4 by receiving a signal came from the detection area; a communication determination unit 8 for, on the basis of the information included in the signal received by the reception unit 5, determining whether the signal is equivalent to the multi-bit signal transmitted from the transmission unit; and a control unit 9 for, when the communication determination unit 8 determines that the signal received by the reception unit 5 is equivalent to the multi-bit signal transmitted from the transmission unit 4, determining whether an object exists in the detection area on the basis of the received signal. |
