摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption of an optical transmitter having a split electrode structure.SOLUTION: An optical modulation part 11 includes a plurality of phase modulation regions formed on an optical waveguides 111 and 112, and outputs an optical signal OUT obtained by binary modulating input light IN. A driver circuit 12 includes drivers 121-127 connected to each of the plurality of phase modulation regions, and outputs a driving signal according to an input digital signal DIN from each of the drivers 121-127 to the corresponding phase modulation region. A determination circuit 13 receives light intensity information INF indicating a desired intensity of an optical signal outputted from the optical modulation part 11 to reach an external optical receiver, and then determines the number of drivers to be activated from among the drivers 121-127. A driver control circuit 14 activates the drivers of the number specified by the determination result of the determination circuit 13, and cuts power supply to the drivers other than the activated drivers.</p>
